Which farms will my oysters come from?

The farmers' pick: the Maine farms at their best that week, each named on the tag in the box.

Do I need to know how to shuck?

No. A knife, a towel and a little nerve is all it takes — the first one is the hardest. Our shucking kit (knife, gloves, cooler) has everything you need, and the farmer cards in the box walk you through it.

How long do oysters stay fresh?

Cold-water oysters — Maine, New England, Canada — are extremely resilient and hardy. Stored properly they stay fresh for 7–10 days from the day you receive them.

How should I store them?

Do not freeze them or put them in water. Keep them in the refrigerator in any breathable container, never sealed in plastic — they are a living organism until slurp time.

When will my oysters arrive?

We ship UPS Next Day Air (Tue–Sat) and pack for 2+ days of transit, depending on the season. A tracking link is texted to you at 5:00 the day before delivery. We have no control over the arrival time on delivery day, and the link can run behind: most packages arrive before 5 PM, but in busy shipping weeks they can land as late as 10 PM.

What if the box is late?

We ship Next Day Air but pack for two days of transit, for the weather and the things out of our control. One day late: a re-ship for 50% of the cost if you would like one. Two or more days late: a free re-ship. We do not refund for shipping issues outside our control, but if it was clearly our mistake we will make it right.

Is it a gift?

Yes — pick the day it should arrive, add a note on the next step and we print it on the card in the box. Prices never show, and the tracking text comes to you.
