Raw Bar · 38 West Bayside · Portland, ME
We're primarily a shucking academy & private event space — we teach classes, host group experiences, and our raw bar remains open for walk-ins, catered events, and seasonal happy hours. Two purposes, one room, one philosophy: teach the craft, share the story.
Hands-on Shucking 101 sessions taught by our pro shuckers. Learn the knife work, the farmer stories, and walk out with a skill you'll use for life.
Private Shucking 101 sessions, corporate gatherings, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, full facility takeovers including our backyard oasis & lodging above. Your event, our space.
Hands-on daily classes. Learn the knife, meet the oysters, leave with the skill.

“Absolutely amazing experience. Great location. Excellent food, drinks, and service. Took my 80 year old folks as they wanted oysters and blow away by the taste and experience. Cannot wait to go again.”
“Couldn't get better oysters anywhere. They're fresh and you can taste the difference between the oysters. Lobster rolls were fantastic as well. Service was impeccable. Make a reservation, some walk-in folks were turned away because the place was booked. Prices were reasonable.”
“Wowza!! You had me at prosecco on tap. The service was outstanding. The drinks so yummy. The oysters so fresh and delicious. Honestly, I could of stayed all night and consumed every single oyster in the place.”
“As other people have mentioned, this little spot is in a bit of a sketchier area. So I would recommend coming on the earlier side to be safe. But don't stay away! The oysters, mignonette, and lobster rolls are all high quality. They have some nice drink offerings to wash it down as well. We didn't get to try it, but I heard that they hold oyster shucking classes as well. That would be an interesting experience.”

You can choose to get just one oyster, 6 or 12. They are still priced at $2 each. Really appreciated that they describe their daily specials; this was unique as I didn't find a lot of restaurants doing that. It definitely helped us make our choices. We decided to get 2 each of 5 popular choices and 1 each of the remaining 2 choi”
“This hidden gem is absolutely amazing. You simply MUST go. It's in a bit of a rougher area , so I have a feeling this may deter some folks and they also may not get the foot traffic that other restaurants get BUT it's beyond worth it. The restaurant itself is quant, charming and exciting all at the same time. You're welcomed in by their friendly staff and a beautiful display of local oysters. The wood bar, tables and seating with calm lighting gives it a rustic feel that makes you just want t”
